Matt Abbott is the director of government and diplomatic programs at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Prior to joining the Council, he served as a staff member in the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. Abbott was awarded a Foreign Policy Fellowship with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a non-resident James A. Kelly Korea Fellowship with Pacific Forum CSIS, a Junior Korean Unification Experts Fellowship with the South Korean Ministry of Unification, and he was a participant in the China-US Young Scholars Dialogue through the China Institute of International Studies. He received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a diploma from the United States Naval War College. Abbott is a member of the board of directors of the Japan America Society of Chicago and a member of the American Enterprise Institute’s Leadership Network.
