Chun Doo-hwan’s bloody Gwangju legacy is America’s problem too
In Jeong Kim has worked as an investigative journalist for the public broadcasting station, MBC(Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) Gwangju in South Korea for the past decade.
Her field of expertise is social movements. She co-directed and co-produced two documentaries, named ‘His Name Is…(2017)’ and ‘Candle Light Movement(2016)’ about social movements and democracy. The first documented the Gwangju Uprising and the injustice thereof, and the second showed the peaceful candlelight protests that led to the impeachment of Park Guen Hye, illustrating how the Korean public had embraced peaceful and democratic solutions to their political struggles.
She is currently studying documentary at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
