US sanctions policies desperately need accountability
Congress can change that by including a House-passed amendment into the final version of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
Gabe Murphy is the Communications and Outreach Manager at the Charity & Security Network, a resource and advocacy center working to promote and protect the ability of nonprofit organizations to carry out peacebuilding, humanitarian, and human rights missions and to advance national security frameworks that support rather than impede this work. Prior to joining C&SN, Gabe spent over 5 years working at Peace Action, a national grassroots peace organization, where he worked to end U.S. wars, reduce Pentagon spending, and support diplomatic and humanitarian approaches to conflict. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Community Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his Master’s degree in Global Studies from the University of California, Berkeley with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa. As a graduate student, he worked as a teaching assistant for a course on global poverty and a course on political transitions in the MENA region. His work has been published in a range of news outlets, including Common Dreams, Truthout, and the East Bay Times.
