Sonya Reines-Djivanides is the Executive Director of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO), a position she started in April of 2015. EPLO is the largest independent European civil society platform of European NGOs, networks of NGOs and think tanks that are committed to peacebuilding and the prevention of violent conflict. She has more than fifteen years of experience in international conflict resolution. Prior to her work with EPLO, she worked with the International NGO Search for Common Ground (SFCG) in various capacities from 2004 to 2015 in both Washington and Brussels. She led SFCG’s Track II Mediation Unit where she focused on US-Iran confidence building and people-to-people exchanges. Sonya received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science and French from The University of New Mexico. She received her Master of Arts in International Relations from Syracuse University. At the United States Institute of Peace, she then earned a Graduate Certificate in International Mediation, a certificate in Conflict Analysis and training in post conflict reconstruction and humanitarian situations. She also finished a Peace Mediation Course with the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs.
