Rouzbeh Parsi wrote his PhD thesis about modernity, nationalism and gender in Iran between the two world wars. Between 2009-2013 he was a Senior Research Fellow at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris, focusing on the Middle East in general and Iran and the Gulf states in particular. Between 2013-2019 he was a Senior Lecturer in Human Rights and History at Lund University in Sweden.
He is the co-founder of the European Middle East Research Group, a network of Middle East scholars and policy experts in Europe.
As of October 2018 he is the program head of the Middle East and North Africa Program at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
