Arwa Mokdad

Arwa Mokdad is studying human rights in the Middle East and international relations at the University of Washington. She has spent time in Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, and Jordan. Arwa volunteers as a Peace Advocate with the Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, supporting aid programs in Yemen while participating in anti-war campaigns in the U.S. She also works with Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon. Currently, Arwa is working on a cultural webinar series Beyond the War, which aims to showcase Yemen outside the realm of tragedy with an emphasis on Yemeni history, celebrations, and excellence.
